The converter works at the memory-card container level, not the emulator save-state level. It preserves the embedded raw card bytes exactly when removing a supported wrapper. Individual MCS export prepends the save directory frame to the save blocks in chain order. SaveEditor does not guess missing card data or silently repair a malformed filesystem. Preserve the original card image until the normalized or extracted file has been opened successfully by the intended emulator or memory-card tool.

Supported versions / editions
Standard raw PS1 cards and complete GME, VGS/MEM, or PSX memory-card wrappers that contain a valid MC payload, plus structurally validated MCS single-save containers.
Input constraints
Card input must contain one complete standard 128 KiB PS1 card, either raw or inside a supported complete wrapper. MCS input must contain one valid 128-byte directory frame followed by one to fifteen complete 8 KiB blocks. Truncated containers are never padded.
Known limitations
Phase 34 retains wrapper normalization and MCS export, and adds strict MCS container inspection/payload extraction. It does not create every historical PS1 wrapper, merge cards, repair filesystem damage, or convert emulator save states.
Output / result
A normalized 128 KiB .mcd card, an MCS file for a selected valid card entry, or the complete raw block payload extracted from a validated MCS container.

Tool-specific privacy notes
Phase 36 reads a selected file only after explicit local file selection. Parsing, inspection, normalization, extraction, and supported conversions run in the browser. The emulator-retro runtime contains no fetch, XMLHttpRequest, WebSocket, or sendBeacon calls. The shared file ceiling is 16 MiB, with stricter format-specific limits where appropriate.

When a file is rejected, do not force it.
A rejection can indicate an unsupported size, format, version, platform, or byte sequence. Preserve the original and correct the input instead of bypassing validation.
Re-check the documented input type and browser size limit before retrying.
A generic converter does not imply support for every game-specific container, signing scheme, or serialization format.
Return to the untouched source instead of repeatedly processing a damaged or partially transformed file.
Known Tool issues
A wrong or incomplete wrapper is rejected. MCS extraction is disabled for invalid or cyclic block chains. If a target emulator expects another container, use that emulator documentation rather than renaming the file extension.
