DeSmuME DSV files contain raw game save data followed by emulator-specific metadata. SaveEditor recognizes the documented footer and can separate the raw region without interpreting the game payload. Rebuilding a DSV is intentionally template-based because the footer contains emulator metadata that should not be fabricated generically. Save states are not handled by this converter; it is for in-game battery-save data only.

Input constraints
DSV input must contain the recognized DeSmuME footer text and terminal |-DESMUME SAVE-| cookie. DSV-to-raw removes that exact footer. Raw-to-DSV requires a valid template DSV whose raw data length exactly matches the selected raw save.
Known limitations
Phase 22 does not infer a DSV footer from the game name, resize raw saves, convert emulator save states, or claim that all .sav/.srm files belong to Nintendo DS. Raw-to-DSV intentionally requires a verified template from the same game/save-size context.
Output / result
A raw .sav/.srm payload from a validated DSV, or a new .dsv containing selected raw bytes followed by the unchanged footer from a validated template.

Tool-specific steps
For DSV to raw, choose the DSV and export its raw payload. For raw to DSV, choose the raw save and a known-good DSV template for the same game and save size, then generate the new DSV.

Phase 36 reads a selected file only after explicit local file selection. Parsing, inspection, normalization, extraction, and supported conversions run in the browser. The emulator-retro runtime contains no fetch, XMLHttpRequest, WebSocket, or sendBeacon calls. The shared file ceiling is 16 MiB, with stricter format-specific limits where appropriate.

When a file is rejected, do not force it.
A rejection can indicate an unsupported size, format, version, platform, or byte sequence. Preserve the original and correct the input instead of bypassing validation.
Re-check the documented input type and browser size limit before retrying.
A generic converter does not imply support for every game-specific container, signing scheme, or serialization format.
Return to the untouched source instead of repeatedly processing a damaged or partially transformed file.

If the footer cookie is missing, the file is rejected. If the raw payload length differs from the template DSV raw region, conversion stops rather than resizing or guessing.
