DuckStation supports PlayStation memory cards independently from emulator save states. This converter focuses on the card image representation: it removes only a recognized complete wrapper and preserves the 128 KiB card payload. It does not reinterpret the game data inside save blocks, bypass protections, or convert emulator state snapshots. The validation step is intentionally strict so a filename extension alone cannot make an arbitrary file look compatible.

Input constraints

The selected input must be a complete supported PS1 memory-card image with a valid embedded MC payload. This profile does not handle DuckStation save states.

Known limitations

This tool converts memory-card containers only. DuckStation emulator save states are a different concept and are not converted. No game-specific save payload transformation is performed.

A standard 128 KiB .mcd memory-card image suitable for software that accepts raw PS1 cards.

Phase 36 reads a selected file only after explicit local file selection. Parsing, inspection, normalization, extraction, and supported conversions run in the browser. The emulator-retro runtime contains no fetch, XMLHttpRequest, WebSocket, or sendBeacon calls. The shared file ceiling is 16 MiB, with stricter format-specific limits where appropriate.

When a file is rejected, do not force it.

A rejection can indicate an unsupported size, format, version, platform, or byte sequence. Preserve the original and correct the input instead of bypassing validation.

Re-check the documented input type and browser size limit before retrying.

Unsupported format

A generic converter does not imply support for every game-specific container, signing scheme, or serialization format.

Source was modified

Return to the untouched source instead of repeatedly processing a damaged or partially transformed file.

If DuckStation cannot use the normalized card, verify the selected memory-card slot and emulator configuration. Do not treat save-state files as memory-card images.
